 Spring Concert at the Druze Cultural Center in Eagle Rock  

 

     An important part of the Kan Zaman mission is to educate the public regarding traditional Arabic music.
     The ensemble volunteers were able to carry out this activity on several occasions these last few years

     A takht from Kan Zaman was invited to Cal State University, Pomona to present Arabic music to students of two music
     department classes: World Music Appreciation led by Dr. Philip Clarke and Music of the Middle East led by Wael Kakish.
     Our musicians were asked to demonstrate their instruments and to perform traditional pieces. Time was available after the
     performance to answer the students' questions. (See the related article about the takht.)

     Kan Zaman Ensemble members supported the International Friendship Festival  in Long Beach on April 18th and 19th.
     This free concert presented music, dance, food and culture from many ethnicities that make up the Los Angeles area.
     We were privileged to present 20 minutes of our music and to also accompany legendary Lebanese singer Sabah.
     Our group was included in the finale presentation of "One Planet, One People", a song written by Michael Sembello.
